
Our Story
Avidan founded Taco Mensch in 2019 after working in the restaurant industry for 20+ years. He started leading his first tours and quickly became addicted to the joy of connecting with travelers over delicious tacos and agua fresca. A few years later, a chance meeting led Avidan to meet his future wife and business partner, Angie. It was a serendipitous encounter: Angie was on a quick visit to Mexico City and happened to go to Avidan’s former restaurant, Bar Pita — and the rest is history. A few months later, Angie moved to Mexico to be with Avidan, and a year later, they married in Las Vegas (of all places!). They now run Taco Mensch together.
As a team, Avidan’s decades of hospitality experience, background in owning several bars, and unrelenting passion for food and culture blends with Angie’s 20+ years as a photo editor and freelance photographer, creative entrepreneur, and (also) unrelenting passion for travel and food. Together, they dream up new tours and experiences — curating each detail from a personal perspective — to bring Mexico City into full color. Avidan and Angie are like chile and lime — alone, they’re great, but combined, they are even better. When they’re not developing tours, they love to try new restaurants and discover new parts of Mexico, enriching their partnership in business and life.
